Archaeological Consultants and Contractors Principal Archaeologist, George R. Clark, has over 10 years experience practicing archaeology in southern Ontario and beyond. After having graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree in Chemistry from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, George earned his Master of Arts degree in Anthropology from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. His research interests include geophysics, lithic studies, contemporary archaeological theory, archaeometry, and the application of Geographic Information Systems to field archaeology.

 

Specializing in the instrumental chemical analysis of archaeological material, George has brought analytical techniques into the regular practice of consulting archaeology including Induced Neutron Activation Analysis, Liquid and Gas Chromatography and Flame/Furnace Absorption Spectrophotometry. He has been invited to speak about instrumental methods at numerous conferences and municipal workshops and has participated in international excavations. George currently holds a position of sessional professor at the Seneca College School of Biological Sciences and Applied Chemistry, where he teaches instrumental methods to chemical and pharmaceutical technologists.

 

George has directed hundreds of archaeological assessments in southern Ontario and beyond, ranging from small stage 1 and 2 assessments to large stage 4 excavations. George is fully licensed by the Ministry of Culture to conduct all forms of archaeological investigations and mitigations encountered in the southern Ontario region.
